DeadSpin recently compiled data on public employee salaries to determine the highest paid public employees nationwide. As far as public employees go, it pays to be a football coach as the majority of states that was the highest paid public employee with basketball coaches coming in second. Everything else is split for a distant third place. Not like this will change any-time soon even though they are over paid. These coaches are all for universities which, in theory, should be breaking even or making money from the sports department. One could argue that the best way to cut government spending is to cut these programs but universities would fight you tooth and nail if you wanted to put a cap on the sports programs.
Do you agree with this spending or should we cut it?
