Christmas Is Over
Every gift has been unwrapped, every tummy is stuffed, every dog is sleepy, but not every child is asleep. Little T took a nap during dinner time so he is wide awake at the moment. Drama King was fast asleep by 1 am soon to be followed by me and then sometime later, Tim and Little T.
Everyone had a wonderful day filled with fantastic food, loads of wrapping paper, and a few new flavors. We started out with the boys opening their stockings and gifts from Santa while waiting for Grandma Deb to arrive. When Grandma Deb arrived, the boys showed her everything that Santa had brought them. While waiting for lunch to be ready, we munched on a seven layer dip and tortilla chips. Lunch consisted of tamales, carne asada burritos, and refried beans. The ceremonious opening of gifts occurred after lunch. The boys thoroughly enjoyed every gift they opened from the smallest to the largest. They are at the stage that everything is fantastic leaving me wishing they would stay in this stage forever. Most of the gifts were meet with oohs and awes and the ever popular “Open this, please!” After all the gifts were opened, we watched A Miser Brothers’ Christmas special which we had on our DVR. Then, we watched Bridge to Terabithia which was interrupted by a knock at the door.
After wrangling the dogs outside, the door burst open and in came Tank along with Erica and Tony. The three boys happily greeted each other and exchanged gifts. We had to keep Little T away from Tank during the unwrapping. Little T would try to help Tank which causes Tank to yell at him saying “Those are mine. Not yours!” After all the presents were unwrapped, the boys played while the grown ups talked. Slowly everyone moved to the dining room to begin dinner. Everyone dived in and chowed down on ham, glazed carrots, red hot yams, onion and chive potatoes, and rolls.
After tummies were stuffed and chatter died down, Erica and Tony gathered up their gifts and loaded Tank up in the car to head home. Once all goodbyes were said, the boys ran back inside to play. The rest of us sat down in the living room and finished Bridge to Terabithia. When the movie ended, we wrapped up the night by helping Grandma Deb load her gifts, Elmo and the new puppy in her car and waved until she could no longer be seen.

Company: Sam Levitz Furniture
I have had enough of Sam Levitz and will never buy another item from them. They have the worst customer service I have ever encountered. They sell the crappiest furniture and think they are fabulous. I have dealt with them many many times in the past with no headaches. It has only been in the last few years that they have turned to the worst. They advertise that they can deliver next day but rarely deliver on that because they don’t keep much in their warehouse. If you have to “special order” something, it rarely is a simple and easy process. You have to hound them to actually get the items you ordered in a time fashion. We bought our two entire bedroom sets from them prior to moving into our house (June 07) and we are STILL waiting on some mirror brackets. Yes, brackets; those little things you can buy from any hardware store. My heart skipped a beat when we got a postcard from them a few days ago saying the brackets were actually “in stock” again. All we had to do was call and setup an appointment to have someone deliver and change them out as we have temporary ones holding the mirror currently.

New AZ Money Making Law
AZ law limiting the use of license plate covers will be enforced as of January 1, 2009. The statue states that “A person shall maintain each license plate so it is clearly legible and so that the name of this state at the top of the license plate is not obscured.” A fee of at least $150 will be levied if you do not follow the law.
A few questions come to mind; a) How often can you be ticketed for the same “crime”? b) Will the photo radar tickets add this “crime” even if the original crime is found invalid?

Christmas Decorations
Today, we put up the outside Christmas lights but will remember to label them better for next year. We put up the first strand of lights and when hooking up the second, we realized the stand was an indoor strand. This year when we take them down, I’ll mark them as house, yard, tree, or indoor so we don’t have that issue again. We did a few things last year that made this year much easier. Last year we discovered a no ladder light hanging kit last year which made putting up and taking down lights a snap. We plan to pick up some more of the plastic pieces this year as spares because we used every one that we bought last year. We used christmas storage light reels to store the lights when we took them down last year which made it very easy to put up the lights this year as the lights were untangled and rolled off smoothly. After Christmas this year, we’ll hit the clearance racks and pick up a few more light strands and storage reels.
I put up the stocking holders and will get the rest of the inside decorations out in a few days. I think the inside stuff might stay up a little longer because the boys are getting better at listening and not playing with stuff. I want to get some more hooks with adhesive strips of varied sizes to hang the inside stuff. I also need more hooks for the photo frames and art work that I want to put up on the walls. We used these types of hooks in the apartment and they work very well. I have some of the hooks but am out of the adhesive so I’ll pick up some more adhesive strips as well to pack away for next year.
We’ll get a live Christmas tree in a couple weeks. The boys found the ornaments and were ‘just looking’ earlier today. They have fond memories of each ornament and will tell you about each one in great detail. They have a special ornament for each Christmas they have celebrated. I’m not sure what ornament we’ll get each of them this year. Probably some sort of wrestling one for Little T but I’m not sure about what to get Drama King.
