Tim, the boys, Grandma Deb and I made our annual trip to the Renaissance Festival on Sunday. Our day started early with a 2 hour drive to the festival grounds. We arrived a few minutes before opening bell. A quick potty break for everyone before walking through the entrance gates. We headed directly over to watch Don Juan and Miguel which quickly became Little T’s favorite act at the festival. The show was a riot but as we were leaving Little T noticed people putting money into the actors hats. Instinctively, he stretched out his hand demanding a dollar and proceeded to dance up to Miguel. He did a little song and dance for Miguel prior to putting the dollar in the hat. Little T had Miguel’s attention so Little T switched on the charm by reenacting some of the sword fighting scenes.

Little T tracked our movements on the map we got at the door. When he saw the maze on the map, he insisted our next stop be the maze. He was so excited to do the maze but Daddy was tired from getting up early and wanted to put it off. Mommy came to the rescue and took him through the maze. We had to make a lot of choices, some good and some bad, as we made our way through the maze. At the end of the maze, two maidens gave each of us a handful of play gold coins before we slid down a short slide.

Drama King was overjoyed when he saw a body art stand where he could get his face or arm painted. He spent a lot of time looking over the variety of options before settling for a spider and web. He stood in line patiently waiting for his turn. He opted to get his spider on his arm. He was a huge chatterbox with the lady who did his ‘tattoo’ and she told him to come back and see her if he needed it touched up during the day.

It’s Party Time!

We set out today to do one thing, attend Zoey’s first birthday party, but ended up doing quite a few things. We have been working with the boys on getting up earlier so they would be alert for the party and that was a success, thankfully. We woke the boys up around 10:30a and everyone got dressed and ready to go in about 30 minutes. Grandma Deb arrived with Tank shortly before 11am and we gathered all three boys and their stuff for the trip.

We got a little turned around on our way to the park and still arrived right around party time. The boys were so excited about the party that they practically jumped out of the van and took off to the party. The boys made a bee line for the playground which was fenced in for the kids safety and the parents sanity. The boys were on their best behavior and were very patient while playing with Zoey. The boys had a little to eat, got their treat bags, helped break a piƱata, and talked to everyone. They had so much fun at the party which made leaving a pain but we promised Little T that we’d go do something fun.

We drove up to Madera Canyon, one of our family’s favorite places to hike. All three boys were so excited to see the canyon that they couldn’t sit still while we were driving. Once we got there, we uploaded and began the chase. The boys wandered around and had so much fun that they didn’t want to leave. We promised to bring them back up to the canyon and they finally settled down.

We decided to stop and try out the new pizza place in town, Papa Murphy’s. It’s a take and bake pizza joint and the baking instructions are very simple. We baked the pizza and watch Knight Rider while we ate. The pizza was fantastic and we will definitely be getting more pizza from them in the future. We even reheated the pizza according to the sites direction later for a snack and it was great.

Everyone went to bed much earlier than our normal schedule so the day was perfect!
