“George Carlin, the Grammy-Award winning standup comedian and actor who was hailed for his irreverent social commentary, poignant observations of the absurdities of everyday life and language, and groundbreaking routines like “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,” died in Santa Monica, Calif., on Sunday, according to his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He was 71.”

Hubby and I were planning to see him the next time he came to town but, sadly, we will not get that opportunity now.

Ryan
Ryan Monroe ~ 5/7/1976 – 1/9/2007 ~ Friend and Coworker
Ryan took his own life before fully understanding the hole he left in this world.

Walton Maust (Papa) ~ 8/10/1926 – 9/15/2006 ~ Maternal grandfather
Papa fell from his roof in early 2003 and never fully recovered. I will always remember him as a strong willed (sometimes too strong willed) man whom overcame so much pain in his childhood to become the man I knew.

Alvera Maust ~ 7/2/1924 – 11/28/1999 ~ Maternal grandmother
Smoking most of her adult life caused multiple problems and eventually led to her death. I sometimes think back to sitting at Grandma’s table playing card games or watching the game channel. She taught me so much about games and life.

Michael Governale ~ ~ Middle school friend
He was killed in a drive by shooting while walking home from school. He left school early that day because he was not feeling good.

After Ryan’s death, I decided I wanted a category to celebrate those who have past on. So, I created this area to celebrate all of those who have passed on.

A friend and coworker, Ryan Monroe, took his own life on Jan 9, 2007. I have been going through the grieving process, along with my coworkers, slowly. Day by day, we are getting back to normal here at work but its still hard to think that Ryan is gone. He will be greatly missed. I have heard some words floating around about no ceremony here in town for him but the people who knew him and some of our coworkers are planning on doing their own thing for him. Please bare with me as I go through the grieving process.

Papa is no longer with us. He passed away quietly early this morning. His heart stopped around 2am and the hospice has a no resuscitate order so it was just a matter of moments before he passed on.
