I love web design. Well, as long as I am designing for someone else. I am harsh on my own design. I can never come up with a concept for my own blog but can come up with tons of ideas for other people.

Enter the concept of WordPress child themes. I use someone else’s WordPress theme and modify it to meet my color scheme. I’ve been wanting to change up the site as it’s getting quite crowded down the left side of the page.

Enter our new theme…Well theme of the moment. I am working on a WP3 layout and hopefully will have that up and running before BlogMania.

Adding Affiliates

As you may have noticed, I have picked up a few affiliates (top and sidebar) but wanted to discuss them before you think I’ve ‘sold out to making money only’. I haven’t. You will see the same ol’ content as you have always seen. I am joining some programs where I can pick up a few cents or dollars here and there. I do not plan on turning blogging into a money maker so I will always be very picky on who’s affiliate programs I join and which ones you see on the site.

Most of the ones I have currently are products we own, use or think is something you might be interested in looking at. If you ever have any questions about the banner we display, please contact us.

Now with that in mind, I have added some brand new affiliates just in the last few days. I am working at adding their banners to the rotation so you’ll start seeing them soon. I am also working on a blog makeover and would LOVE to have a huge giveaway for our relaunching. So while you may not see a lot of content being generated in the following weeks, believe me when I say there is A LOT going on behind the scenes. Plus we’re doing swim lessons again for Little T and I am taking Drama King to the pool to teach him to swim as well.

When I started signing up for the few new affiliates, I never thought I’d bring you a special deal right away but it has happened. Tenmarks has a summer program running until July 16, 2010. My Very First Award

I was shocked when I got a message on Twitter from Shannon over at Mom State of Mind telling me that she had something for me on her blog. Imagine my surprise when I checked her site and saw she had won the Sunshine Award and subsequently nominated our site to carry on the award.

Here are the rules for the Sunshine Award:

Now, I’ve had a pretty busy few days so I haven’t had a moment to sit down a type this up but I’ve been thinking about all the wonderful blogs I read. I’ve narrowed it down to the following 12 blogs:

Photo Album Relaunched

After some careful consideration, I have relaunched the photo album. The user database was purged so if you had a login in the past, it has been removed. You will need to register for a new login. All registrations must be approved by an admin to prevent unwanted people from viewing our family photos.

There are photos from mid 2000 to current. I have also added some of the videos we’ve taken since the boys were born. Drama King’s first steps, holidays, Little T talking, and a lot of just for fun videos.

I may allow non users to view specific categories but I have not activated that feature at the moment.

Conversion Complete

I’ve converted from the old news script to a WordPress script. So far, I am much happier with the new script. I have created our own theme based on a classic layout. I’ve thought about a complete redo on the site but haven’t really thought how I could make it any better.

Contact Us Form

I updated the contact us form to a php driven self written script. Ok so I borrowed an example and modified it to meet my needs. That’s as close as I get to self written right now. LOL

New Script

So, the only news script is not working anymore so I figure it’s time to get up to date. We went blog style. You can now post comments for the time being. Not sure if I’ll leave the comments turned on but we’ll see. I will be spending some time moving the post from the old news over so the archives remain of the old stuff.

Bear with me as I go through this. You may occasionally see a message about the page intentionally being left blank. That means I’m working on something and don’t wanna let comments/posts be added while I update. I will also have to figure out how to make this theme match the site so that will be after I bring the archives over.

Updates Mailing List Added

We added a mailing list that will send periodic emails to inform of any updates to our site. We added a few people to the list automatically. If you would like to be added, send an email to “addme at timandangi.com”. Of course convert that to an email address including the @ sign and include the following information. Name: Email: Password: (will be assigned one, if you do not provide one) Individual emails or digest mode?: * Individual emails will send you every email as soon as it is sent. Digest mode sends you them less frequently. This list will not have a lot of emails so individual mode will be defaulted unless you specify digest mode. You will receive an email with a web address where you will be able to maintain your account once you are added to the list. Please allow up to 1 week for processing.

The photo gallery has been updated with pictures from Grandma Cindy’s visit for Little T’s first birthday. Take a moment and check them out. More will be added within the week.

Switching Scripts

We are currently switching a lot of our site to php instead of cgi scripts. Please bear with us as we make this switch. Our site will run a lot smoother after the switch.

Php will allow a lot more flexibility with the site and make it easier for me to update more frequently.
