The statue states that “A person shall maintain each license plate so it is clearly legible and so that the name of this state at the top of the license plate is not obscured.” A fee of at least $150 will be levied if you do not follow the law.

A few questions come to mind; a) How often can you be ticketed for the same “crime”? b) Will the photo radar tickets add this “crime” even if the original crime is found invalid?

We have had an OUTSTANDING plate cover on our plate for many years and it has always brought comments, snickers, and laughs where ever we go. We even registered a domain with the phrase because of it’s hilarity. Sadly, it covers the state name and we just came back in from the garage after removing the cover. I haven’t decided what we are going to do with it since it will be useless to give it to anyone in AZ.
